Excellent. I am in full agreement. I have just graduated from a teaching college and have found my fellow graduates and the system that I did my practicums in lacking in 21st century thinking. The status quo is still being maintained.

But lo! Change is beginning to happen. At my school, Kwalikum Secondary, the principle and vice principle are onboard with making the changes required for the 21st century.

As a long time entrepreneur, I am on the forefront of change as if I fail to see the changes, I lose considerable amounts of money and the first rule of being on entrepreneur is not to lose money. This has put me in a very interesting position going forward for education. My classes are 100% new school collaborative places where students are engaged and creative.

I would be more than happy to discuss education and teaching with you (I am open to job opportunities). Please forgive the shameless self-promotion, but if you are interested in having a classroom in your school that is a change leader, go to my website, check me out and fell free to contact me at anytime:

Massive, radical change is upon us, we must prepare our students.

To make this a truly Canadian list, please take into account many innovative Edtech newsmakers from francophone Canada.

Thinking of Pierre Poulin's @iClasse (http://www.iclasse.ca/Site/English.html) in Montreal, Roberto Gauvin's Clair 2011 at-school-conference-barcamp in Clair, NB (http://clair2011.wikispaces.com/ ), just to name a couple...

Merci ;-)

Thanks for the review, David. You are one of the first people to quickly get the BIG IDEA about mobile learning - that it is about learners moving or at least being able to move, while learning both from the world around them AND the information that is available from the resources in the "cloud" that is everywhere. I am now pointing out to people that the classroom is a form of "sensory deprivation" because it takes immediate sensory experiences and turns them into texts to be studied, thus removing context. My new short definition of mobile learning is "learning in context".
