When technology is within their reach, students and educators can do remarkable things. When provided with the right tools and given the opportunity to collaborate, create, and problem solve, a student’s true potential is unlocked, and the mind is free to think and do amazing things.
Last month, we talked about transforming education to support our common goal – providing an inclusive and high-quality education for all students. We talked about some of the resources and tools that are available to support educators and school systems through their journey to achieve this. We also touched on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and ways to teach and align your curriculum and daily lessons to help achieve these Sustainable Goals.
This month we want to double click on this with a fun way to get your students engaged in sustainability and STEM education, and to get creative, problem solve as a team, and even have the opportunity to win a makerspace for your classroom! It’s called Make : Change.
Microsoft Canada believes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) experiences that empower Canadian youth and inspire change in our communities. STEM is more than a buzz word- it is a paradigm shift in education. STEM places the student at the center of learning, enabling them to question, interact, and build the world they see as well as the world they want to see. Allowing students to choose their own path, or have choice in their learning motivates their learning.
Microsoft in Education Canada is excited to announce our #STEM4Change contest, Make : Change. We’re asking classrooms across the country to tell us how they would like to use technology to make the world a better place. Come up with a creative way to present it and submit it to us by November 24th on the Make : Change website in a Sway. Our judging panel will be picking one classroom in the Kindergarten through grade 8 category, and one in high school to win a fully loaded makerspace for their class!
